Broadcasts let you send a single message to all members or to a specific membership level, directly inside their Kourses inbox. No email tools. No deliverability issues. Just instant, in-app communication.
This guide walks you through activating Broadcasts and sending your first message.
Log in to your Admin Dashboard.
Go to:
Website Settings → General
Scroll down to Direct Messaging.
Toggle Enable Direct Messaging to ON.
Save your changes.
Why this matters:
Broadcasts run on top of the Direct Messaging system. If this is disabled, members cannot receive or reply to broadcasts.
Open your Members Area.
Click the Messages icon.
Select the Broadcast tab.
This is where all sent broadcasts are stored.
Click the Plus (+) icon to create a new Broadcast.
In the To field, choose who should receive the message:
All Members – sends to everyone.
Specific Membership – sends only to selected tiers.
This segmentation is critical. Sending irrelevant messages to the wrong tier will reduce engagement in the long term.
Type your message in the editor.
You can add personalisation using the member's name (for example: "Hi {firstname}").
Review your formatting and message clarity.
Before sending, you will see a full preview of your Broadcast.
Check:

You can:
Click Edit to make changes
Or click Send to deliver instantly
After sending:
Return to the Broadcast tab in Messages.
You will see your message listed there.
The message is now sent to your member segment and appears in every selected member's inbox.
Members can reply directly to your Broadcast.
When a member responds:
You receive the reply inside your admin inbox.
You can continue the conversation as a direct message.
This enables real, personal engagement at scale.
This is a key difference between Broadcasts and traditional email.
If your members do not see the Broadcast message in their Kourses inbox, a reminder will be sent via email in the next Digest, ensuring members are notified.
Broadcasts remove the need for:
External email platforms
Deliverability management
Third-party messaging tools
Complex automations for simple announcements
Everything happens inside Kourses.
Broadcasts allow you to:
Send updates instantly
Remind members to take action
Announce new lessons or calls
Re-engage inactive users
Maintain personal connection at scale
This directly supports:
Retention
Participation
Completion rates
Member satisfaction
Cause: Direct Messaging is not enabled
Fix: Enable it in Website Settings as shown in Step 1
Likely cause: Message is broadcast-only in tone
Fix: Ask a direct question or invite replies explicitly
