In this video we'll show you how to connect ActiveCampaign to your Kourses memberships.
When complete, this integration will allow you to add any members added to a specific Kourses membership to your ActiveCampaign account, and add them to specific Lists and tags within your account.
Connecting your Kourses membership to ActiveCampaign allows you to automatically send member data to your ActiveCampaign lists and tags for seamless follow-up marketing.
Follow these simple steps to get set up!
Log into your Kourses account.
Choose the membership you want to integrate.
(Example: "Premium Membership" on a test site.)
Navigate to the Integrations section inside your selected membership.
Click Add a Service.
From the list, select ActiveCampaign.
Open your ActiveCampaign account.
Go to Settings > Developer.
Locate your API URL and API Key.
Copy your API URL from ActiveCampaign and paste it into the relevant field in Kourses.
Copy your API Key and paste it into Kourses.
Click Save and Connect.
Your integration should now be successfully connected!
After connecting, Kourses will fetch your available lists and tags from ActiveCampaign.
Select a List:
Choose the appropriate list where new members should be added.
(Example: "Premium Members" list.)
Select a Tag (Optional):
You can assign a tag to new members.
Search for the tag by typing its name.
Select the tag you want from the list.
(Example: "Kourses Membership" tag.)
Once you're happy with your settings, click Save.
From now on, every time a member is added to your selected membership, the integration will automatically send their information to ActiveCampaign!
If you would like to pass your abandoned checkout / cart leads through to ActiveCampaign, follow this guide to integrating ActiveCampaign. We'll show you how to create the custom fields required for this integration to work most effectively.
Learn how to automatically send leads from your checkout (who didn't complete a purchase) into ActiveCampaign for targeted follow-up.
Head to your Kourses account.
Choose the membership or checkout you want to integrate.
Example: Lead Funnel in a Weekend Membership.
Go to Integrations.
Scroll down under the Email Marketing tab to Abandoned Cart Leads.
Click Add Service.
Choose ActiveCampaign from the list of available integrations.
You'll be prompted to enter:
Your API URL
Your API Key
Tip:
If you're not sure where to find these, check the Kourses Knowledge Base article for guidance.
Click Save and Connect to link ActiveCampaign with your Kourses account.
After connecting, you'll need to fill in a few fields:
Select the list where abandoned cart leads should be sent.
Best practice: Create a separate list (e.g., Abandon) to keep them distinct from buyer lists.
You can assign a tag to these leads if you want more granular segmentation.
You'll need two custom fields in ActiveCampaign:
Cart Membership Name: captures the membership they were trying to buy.
Cart Checkout URL: captures the checkout page link.
Log into your ActiveCampaign account.
From the sidebar, go to Contacts > Fields.
Click Add a Group and name it (e.g., Abandoned Cart).
Inside the group, add two new fields:
Cart Membership Name
Field Type: Text Input
Group: Abandoned Cart
Cart Checkout URL
Field Type: Text Input
Group: Abandoned Cart
Edit each new field.
Under Advanced Settings, uncheck all lists.
Only check the abandoned list you created earlier.
Click Save after each one.
Why this matters:
It ensures that only the correct leads get these custom fields populated.
Go back to your Kourses account.
Click Save to refresh the integration.
Scroll down and map your fields:
Membership Name Field → Select Cart Membership Name.
Checkout URL Field → Select Cart Checkout URL.
Click Save to complete the setup.
When a lead visits your checkout but does not purchase, they’re captured.
After about one hour, if they still haven’t completed checkout:
Their details are sent to ActiveCampaign.
They’re added to your selected list.
Their membership name and checkout URL are stored in the custom fields.
Use the custom fields inside ActiveCampaign to personalize your abandoned cart follow-up emails.
Example:
"Hi [First Name], we noticed you were looking at [Cart Membership Name]. You can complete your purchase here: [Cart Checkout URL]!"
