The General Settings area lets you control key options that affect the look, functionality, and behaviour of your Kourses website and members area. Below, we’ll walk through each option and how it impacts your site.
You can set or change your Business Name using the text field at the top of the General Settings screen.
This name appears throughout your site and is also used as your text logo if you choose not to upload an image logo.
Your Accent Colour is your main brand colour. It’s used in several areas across your site, including:
Buttons (e.g., “Start Course,” “Message”)
Member area sidebar
Progress bars, module numbers, and play icons inside lessons
Choose a colour that aligns with your brand and is visually clear against your background colour.
Set a Link Color if you want text links to stand out within your members area. You can preview this color in any text link (for example, on a lesson page).
You can upload your Logo directly from this screen. Your Logo appears in the top-left corner of the members area. If the logo size or layout doesn’t fit well, you can instead use a text logo; this will automatically display your business name in place of an image.
Tip: Check the suggested logo dimensions provided in the interface for best results.
If your plan includes messaging, you’ll see settings here to control how it works.
Enable Direct Messaging:
Turn this on to allow messaging between you (the admin) and your members.
Enable Member-to-Member Direct Messaging:
Toggle this on to allow members to send messages to each other.
Once activated, members will see a Messaging Inbox in their main menu where they can view unread and all messages. For more details, see our dedicated Direct Messaging Help Article.
If you’d like to display a Members Directory inside your members area, enable Show Members List.
Additional options:
Show total number of members
Show admin members
Show moderator members
When enabled, members can browse others in the directory and see counts based on your settings.
This option controls how comments appear under your Community Posts.
You can choose:
Newest first
Most liked first
Toggle this option on or off to show or hide the course thumbnail image in the sidebar of your members area.
Turn this on to show numbering for your course modules (e.g., 01, 02, 03).
Disabling it will remove the numbering from your course layout.
Two related options help streamline the learning experience:
Auto-Complete Lessons: Marks lessons as complete automatically.
Auto-Continue to Next Lesson: Automatically advances members to the next lesson after completion.
When both are enabled, members won’t need to click “Complete & Continue” manually.
Enable Auto-Play if you’d like lesson videos to start automatically when a member opens a lesson.
If you offer memberships or subscriptions, you can decide how cancellations are handled:
Allow members to cancel subscriptions: Members can cancel directly from their account area without contacting you.
Disable this option: Members must contact you to request cancellation.This gives you a chance to understand their reasons and potentially retain them.
